*The Latin root for intelligence is ‘intellegere’ which is made up of the two syllables ‘inter’ (between) and ‘legere’ (to gather, collect, choose) – which can be interpreted as “to choose from between the thoughts” or to collect (“get”, “receive”) from “between” which can be seen as ‘nothing’ or the ‘gap’.
“What Would Love Do?” may become the most important and maybe only question for us as individuals, as organizations and as a society. After having run out of answers and options – even the latest most striking inventions of most gifted people – we’re left and going to be left with nothing but a big question mark, while life is moving on, and with it the accumulation and enlargement of our unresolved problems and challenges.
When we’re humbled by our failures and arrogances, when we’re on our knees, there’s nothing left but surrender to not knowing*, is there? That is the space in which “What Would Love Do?” arises.
All solutions and operations born of the mind must inevitably fail because the mind is not capable of seeing the Whole. If our actions shall match the requirements of the Whole (holistic action) then we need to get ourselves to there, where the Whole is.
Love is another word for the Whole. Love doesn’t know boundaries nor is it fragmentally looking for its own benefits. Love doesn’t divide. Love is always a state and action of inclusiveness, not exclusiveness. Love is the greatest power, simply because it can’t be destroyed. Any act born of fragmentation is trapped in the dimension of fragmentation – and love can’t be found there, it lives in the dimension of the Whole.
Any problem the individual, the company, the organization, society faces – love can solve it absolutely. Love is not of the mind, it lives between thought, it is the space between ‘what is’. Love is not a feeling but a holistic intelligence.
So, ask yourself: “What Would Love Do?”
And then be silent and listen.
This silence feels like ‘nothing’ for the mind. So don’t look for ‘something’. Just remain silent.
Relax. Wait. This intelligence* will find you, when you are available; the state of ‘nothing’ is where love will find you. You can’t go there – love will need to come to you.
That’s maybe how relativity found Einstein; how the vision of the rainbow nation found Mandela, how that. ‘what’s missing’ will find you.
